Robot Mom Sequel Gets Green Light After Box Office Success!
Looks like we’re getting more heartwarming robot-animal bonding action! “The Wild Robot,” a Dreamworks animated film about a robot who becomes a guardian for a bunch of adorable forest creatures, is officially getting a sequel. The movie made over $100 million in its first two weeks, which, while not as massive as hits like “Inside Out 2” or “Despicable Me 4,” is still pretty darn good in the competitive world of 2024 animated films.
Director Chris Sanders, who also worked on the “How to Train Your Dragon” movies and “The Croods,” confirmed the sequel plans. The original movie is based on a book series by Peter Brown, so there’s plenty of source material for more adventures with Roz the robot and her animal family. Lupita Nyong’o, who voices Roz, even joked that she based the voice on things like Alexa and Siri, adding a fun layer to the character.
So, if you enjoyed the first movie, get ready for more! Dreamworks seems pretty excited about continuing the story, and with Sanders’ track record, it’s likely to be another fun and heartwarming hit.
