“Terrifier 3” So Gory It’s Sending People Running (and Puking) From Theaters!
Get ready for a bloodbath because “Terrifier 3” is causing a stir even before its official release! The latest installment in the gruesome horror franchise is reportedly so intense that it’s causing some viewers to walk out of screenings, and even throw up.
During the film’s first UK screening, 11 people couldn’t stomach the graphic content and left early. According to the film’s PR team, nine of those walkouts happened within the first five minutes.
This isn’t entirely unexpected, as the director, Damien Leone, has previously stated that the opening scene was so gory that no major studio would finance it. He even shared that he had meetings with studios interested in producing “Terrifier 3”, but ultimately decided to make it independently to retain creative control over the extreme content.
Leone expressed pride in his special effects team, stating that walkouts are a “testament to the special makeup fx team” and mean that “we’ve done our job!”. While one confirmed case of vomiting is fewer than “Terrifier 2” (which also caused some people to faint), it still highlights the film’s commitment to pushing boundaries.
Historically, many slasher films have used audience disgust as a marketing tactic, but the “Terrifier” franchise seems to be particularly effective. “Terrifier 2” generated buzz with reports of people fainting in theaters and requiring medical attention.
“Terrifier 3” officially opens on October 11th, so it remains to be seen how general audiences will react. However, if the reactions from the premiere are any indication, it’s likely that the film will continue to shock and disgust in equal measure. It might even make “Nightmare Before Christmas” seem tame in comparison!
