BMW Drivers Locked Out By Apple’s Latest Update?!
Folks, it seems like Apple, in their infinite wisdom, may have “updated” their way into bricking a key feature for BMW owners. That’s right, the fancy “passive entry” thingamajig that lets you unlock and start your car with your iPhone has gone kaput for some folks rocking the new iOS 18.
Now, this isn’t some widespread apocalypse. Your primary key still works fine, but if you’ve shared a digital key with, say, your spouse who just *loves* to borrow the Beamer, they might find themselves on the outside looking in. Ironically, this only impacts the secondary keys shared through Apple Wallet.
And the best part? Apple, in their usual fashion, has remained tight-lipped. No word on what caused this little snafu, and even the latest updates and betas haven’t fixed it. So, if you’re a BMW owner who enjoys the convenience of sharing digital keys, you might want to hold off on that iOS 18 upgrade. Or, you know, just enjoy the walk to the driver’s side door. It’s good exercise, they say.
