Scream 7 to skewer trauma-based horror movies in 2026

Scream 7: Neve Campbell’s Back, Ghostface Gets a Directorial Debut!

Looks like “Scream 7” is finally happening, and they’re pulling out all the stops! After a bunch of drama behind the scenes, including disputes over cast pay and directors leaving, the movie is now set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.

So, what’s changed? Well, they’ve managed to bring back Neve Campbell, who plays the iconic Sydney Prescott. Fans had been disappointed with her limited roles in the last two movies, but it seems like she’ll have a more central part this time around.

But here’s the really interesting part: Kevin Williamson, the writer behind some of the most popular “Scream” movies – we’re talking the original, “Scream 2”, and “Scream 4” – is going to be directing! This is a big deal because he’s never directed a Scream movie before, despite being a key part of the franchise’s success. His only other directing gig was a movie called “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” back in 1999.

It seems like the studio is finally ready to let Williamson take the reins and shape the “Scream” universe from behind the camera. This could be a major turning point for the franchise, especially after the controversies surrounding “Scream 6”. Fans are definitely going to be watching closely to see what Williamson brings to the table as a director.
