Saoirse Ronan is still sad about missing out on Harry Potter

Saoirse Ronan Almost Played Luna Lovegood?!

Hold on to your Sorting Hats, folks, because we almost had a different Luna Lovegood gracing the halls of Hogwarts! Actress Saoirse Ronan recently revealed that she auditioned for the role of the quirky Ravenclaw in the “Harry Potter” films, but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

Ronan shared the news on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” expressing that the missed opportunity “stayed with me over the years.” Apparently, “half of Ireland” auditioned for the role, as it was specifically for an Irish character. Even though Ronan didn’t get the part, she did get to read a scene, which she described as “the coolest thing ever.”

Although Ronan was a bit bummed about not playing Luna, it might have been for the best in the long run. The same year “Order of the Phoenix” came out, Ronan starred in “Atonement,” which earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at only 14 years old. She even mentioned in a recent interview with “IndieWire” that she chose “Atonement” over a big-budget action film, demonstrating her focus on meaningful roles even as a young actress.

But don’t lose hope of seeing Ronan in a magical world just yet! There’s a possibility she might appear in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series. While nothing is confirmed, Ronan hinted at her close relationship with Gerwig, suggesting she might have a way of snagging a role if she wants it. Imagine Ronan as the White Witch – that would be a magical twist!
