MacBook Pro With M4 Chip May Support Up to Two External Displays

Hold onto your dongles, folks! Could the new MacBook Pro actually…support TWO external monitors?!

The tech world is abuzz with whispers – rumors, leaks, innuendo, like a middle school cafeteria after someone farted – that Apple’s upcoming entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip *might* just be a little less stingy with the monitor support. We’re talking maybe, possibly, potentially TWO external displays, up from the paltry ONE supported by the current M3 model.

Now, this is all based on some “alleged Russian leaks,” which sound about as trustworthy as a used car salesman promising “one previous owner, a little old lady who only drove it to church.” But if they’re true, it means the new M4 MacBook Pro might be ditching the two Thunderbolt 3 ports for three glorious Thunderbolt 4 ports. And that, my friends, is the magic number for dual-monitor bliss.

Currently, the base M3 MacBook Pro, with its anemic two Thunderbolt 3 ports, can only handle one external display at a time. Want more screen real estate? Tough luck, pal. You’ll have to squint harder or buy a bigger desk.

This potential upgrade would put the entry-level MacBook Pro more in line with its beefier siblings, the M3 Pro and M3 Max models. The M3 Pro can currently support two external displays, while the M3 Max laughs maniacally and supports up to four. It’s like a monitor orgy over at Apple HQ.

So, who would this affect? Well, anyone who’s been eyeing the entry-level MacBook Pro but needs more than one external display for their workflow – you know, the video editors, the coders, the spreadsheet wizards with really, really wide spreadsheets.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from Apple, which is expected to announce its new M4-powered Macs (including iMacs and Mac minis) later this month. Some are even saying they might hit the shelves as early as November 1st. So, hold onto your hats, your dongles, and your hopes for a future where your little MacBook Pro can finally power a truly panoramic computing experience.
