Longtime Apple Executive Dan Riccio Retiring Later This Month

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu to Apple’s Visionary, Dan Riccio!

Apple’s been hit with the retirement bug again, folks! This time, it’s long-timer Dan Riccio, the mastermind behind the Vision Pro headset, hanging up his engineering hat after a whopping 26 years. Yep, he’s been around since the days of the iMac, seeing Apple through thick and thin, from the Jobs era to the Cook dynasty.

Riccio’s not just some random employee, he was the Senior VP of Hardware Engineering for years, meaning he was the big cheese behind all the gadgets we love, or love to hate, depending on your Apple fanaticism level. From AirPods to iPads, the dude’s fingerprints are all over Apple’s product lineup.

But what about the Vision Pro, you ask? Well, it looks like John Ternus, who took over for Riccio in 2021, is officially inheriting the Vision Pro baby, along with a few thousand engineers. That’s a lot of pressure, John! No word yet on what Ternus has in store for the headset, but it’s safe to say, Apple’s still betting big on the future of augmented reality.

Riccio’s departure is a big loss for Apple, but let’s not forget the guy also championed Apple’s foray into self-driving cars, a project that ultimately crashed and burned (pun intended). Maybe it’s time for a nice long vacation, Dan. You’ve earned it!

Speaking of Apple’s future, the rumor mill is churning with whispers of new MacBooks with the M4 chip and even a new iPad Mini on the horizon. You know Apple, always gotta have something new cooking. Stay tuned, folks. The tech world never sleeps!
