Apple’s iPhone SE 4: A Franken-phone is Born?!
Folks, Apple’s about to release the iPhone SE 4, and it sounds like they raided the parts bin like a college student making ramen. This “budget” phone is supposedly getting the A18 chip from the iPhone 16, a single, lonely camera lens that might be from the iPhone 15, and a design ripped straight from the iPhone 14. It’s like they’re trying to build a monster – a beautiful, affordable monster.
But here’s the kicker: Apple’s supposedly testing out their own, super ambitious 5G modem in this thing. They’ve been working on it for years, trying to ditch Qualcomm like a bad date. This modem is so fancy, it supposedly handles Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS all at once. One chip to rule them all, I guess? We’ll see if it actually works or if it explodes like my microwave when I try to cook popcorn in it.
Now, some folks are saying this Frankenstein phone won’t be much better than what’s already out there. But Apple’s playing the long game. They want to control everything in their phones, from the chips to the screws. This SE 4 is their guinea pig, their chance to see if they can really make this modem thing work. If they pull it off, it’ll be huge for them. If not, well, at least the phone is supposed to be cheap, right?
So, who’s this phone for? People like me, who are too cheap to buy the newest iPhone but still want something shiny and new. Students, maybe. Your grandma who still thinks flip phones are cool. It’s a gateway drug into the Apple ecosystem, a way to get people hooked on that sweet, sweet iOS.
We’ll have to wait until early 2025 to see if this thing lives up to the hype. But if it does, it could be a game changer. Or maybe it’ll just be another phone. Who knows? Apple’s always got something up their sleeve. Stay tuned, folks. This is gonna be interesting.
