Henry Cavill’s Career Trajectory: From Superman to Voltron?
So, it looks like Henry Cavill, the guy who used to wear the Superman cape, is now piloting a giant robot lion. Yes, you heard that right, he’s signed on to star in a “Voltron” movie from Amazon. This might seem like a bit of a step down for the actor who once held the reins of a major superhero franchise. Remember when he was Superman in the DC movies? Those were the days. But since then, he’s had a string of less-than-successful projects like “Argylle” and “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” Even his attempt to channel his inner James Bond hasn’t quite landed.
But hey, audiences still love him! He got a huge cheer when he popped up in “Deadpool & Wolverine” earlier this year. But still, starring in a “Voltron” movie? It makes you wonder what’s going on with his career choices.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill is joining the cast of Rawson Marshall Thurber’s “Voltron” film alongside actor Daniel Quinn-Toye. No details on the plot yet, but we can probably expect lots of CGI robots and maybe some anguished facial expressions from Cavill.
On the bright side, he’s still got some other projects in the works, including a Guy Ritchie movie called “In The Grey” and a “Highlander” adaptation directed by Chad Stahelski, the guy behind “John Wick.” Those sound a little more promising than giant robot lions.
But seriously, a “Voltron” movie? It’s not exactly a career highlight. We’ll have to wait and see how this one turns out.
