Gmail Gets a Facelift: Your Email, Now With More Action!
So, Google’s at it again, tinkering with Gmail. This time, they’re giving those little “summary cards” a makeover. You know, those helpful snippets at the top of your emails that give you the gist of what’s inside? Yeah, those. Apparently, they weren’t helpful enough.
Now, they’re adding fancy “action buttons.” What does that mean for you, the average email-checker? Well, if you get an email about a purchase, you can track your package right from the summary. Got a bill? Pay it, or set a reminder, all without even opening the email. And if you’re the kind of person who actually has events to attend, you can RSVP, get directions, even invite your “friends” (if you have any). It’s like Gmail’s trying to become your personal assistant, which, knowing Google, might not be too far off.
And they’re not stopping there. They’re also adding a “Happening Soon” section. What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s basically a place where they’ll show you things like when your packages are supposed to arrive. Because who needs the suspense of checking the tracking number yourself, right?
The rollout starts today, but only for purchase summaries on the iPhone app. Everything else is coming “in the coming months.” So, you know, typical Google. They announce something cool, then make you wait for it. But hey, at least your email will be slightly more exciting in a few months, right?
