Everything New in iOS 18.1 Beta 6

Apple’s iOS 18.1 Beta Sneak Peek: They Added a Level, But Can It Fix Our Crooked Politics?

Folks, it’s that time again. Apple, the company that wants to be in your pocket, on your wrist, and apparently, in your dreams, is about to drop another software update. iOS 18.1, they’re calling it. Now, I’m not a tech guy, but I can tell you this much: it’s got more toggles than a hardware store and more features than my grandma’s remote control.

So, what’s the big deal? Well, apparently, they’ve added separate buttons for “Satellite” and “AirDrop.” I guess that means you can now beam yourself into space and share your bad selfies with aliens faster than ever before. And if you’re the kind of person who always wanted a level in their phone, well, Apple’s got you covered. Now you can make sure your bookshelf is perfectly straight while your moral compass is spinning like a top.

But that’s not all, folks! “Apple Intelligence,” they call it. It’s supposed to be making your phone smarter, you know, so it can summarize your emails and tell you which messages are important. Because apparently, we’re all too busy playing with our new “Satellite” button to read our own darn emails.

Oh, and they’ve also made it easier to share songs on “TikTok” from “Apple Music.” Because nothing says “I’m a serious, well-adjusted adult” like sharing your favorite polka tunes on a social media platform designed for teenagers.

Look, I’m all for progress. But sometimes I wonder if these tech companies are just adding bells and whistles to distract us from the fact that our phones are basically tracking our every move. Maybe instead of a level, they should add a feature that tells us how much time we’re wasting on our phones each day. Now that’s something I could really use.

But hey, what do I know? I’m just a guy with a microphone and a bad case of phone fatigue.
