Kids Sneaking into “Ultra-Gory” Terrifier 3 Using “The Wild Robot” Tickets!
Remember sneaking into R-rated movies as a kid? Turns out, the tradition’s alive and well, but with a gruesome twist. The unrated slasher flick “Terrifier 3” is the #1 movie in America, and while most theaters treat it like an R-rated film, kids are finding ways in. Distributors noticed a suspicious increase in ticket sales for the animated “The Wild Robot” over the weekend, theorizing that kids bought those tickets only to sneak into the ultra-violent “Terrifier 3”.
“Terrifier 3” is causing a stir because it’s unrated, meaning theaters decide how to handle ticketing. It’s reportedly so gory it likely would’ve received an NC-17 rating – which prohibits children entirely. Sources told “The Hollywood Reporter” they’ve seen many screenshots of adults bringing children to see the film. Common Sense Media even describes it as “ultra, ultra gory”, with disturbing imagery, including genital mutilation.
While this might seem shocking, “Terrifier 3’s” success is largely built on its reputation for extreme gore. “Terrifier 2” went viral with stories of viewers vomiting and passing out during screenings. This notoriety drew audiences to the third film, who know what they’re getting into. So, while kids might be getting a traumatic introduction to horror, it’s not entirely unexpected given the film’s marketing and buzz. It seems the age-old tradition of pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable on screen continues.
