Will Smith’s “Men In Black” Fart Forced Set Evacuation!
Director Barry Sonnenfeld dropped a bombshell in his new memoir and podcast appearances, revealing a hilarious and slightly gross on-set story about Will Smith during the filming of “Men In Black”. Apparently, while filming a scene inside a sealed car with co-star Tommy Lee Jones, Smith let one loose. And we’re not talking about a subtle toot – according to Sonnenfeld, it was so bad that the stage had to be evacuated for three hours!
This smelly situation affected not only the filming schedule, but also poor Tommy Lee Jones who was trapped in the car with Smith’s potent emission. Sonnenfeld recounted hearing the whole exchange over the production radios, with Jones showing remarkable grace under pressure.
Sonnenfeld went on to say that Smith is a “frequent farter” and that you don’t want to be stuck in a small space with him. He even compared being near Smith to sitting next to him at the Disney Ranch, which, coming from a director, is quite the statement.
While fart stories are fairly common in Hollywood, told often by the stars themselves as a way to be relatable, it’s unusual for a director to reveal such an anecdote years later. This makes you wonder about the context and Sonnenfeld’s intentions. Is it just a funny story, or is there something more behind it?
Regardless, it’s a memorable tale that adds another layer to the “Men In Black” legacy and highlights a less glamorous aspect of filmmaking. And hey, maybe it’ll make you think twice about who you share a small space with!
