Apple has increased its iPhone production plan by 3.2 million this year. Apple plans to produce 95.6 million units of the iPhone 14 series and 86.3 million units of the new iPhone 15 series by the end of this year. In the iPhone 15 series, the proportion of the Pro lineup is expected to reach 65%. The orders have gone to four suppliers as presented below.
Assembly Volume of the iPhone 15 series
- Foxconn in Taiwan has the most with 50.1 million units (58%)
- Luxshare 24.3 million units (28%)
- Pegatron 11.3 million units (13%)
- Wistron 600,000 units (1%).
As of late July, The Elec reports that Apple had made plans to produce 95.6 million units of the iPhone 14 series and 86.3 million units of the iPhone 15 series by the end of this year. Compared to the production plan in late June, a month ago, this is an increase of 1.8 million units in the iPhone 14 series and 1.6 million units in the iPhone 15 series. Instead, the 2021 model, the iPhone 13 series, decreased by 200,000 units.
Of the 86.3 million units planned for production of the new iPhone 15 series this year, the upper (Pro/Pro Max) lineup accounts for 65% and the lower (normal/plus) lineup accounts for 35%.
The production plan for the iPhone 15 series is expected to be higher in the fourth quarter than in the third quarter, and production of the Pro Max model is expected to increase significantly in the fourth quarter rather than the pro model.
The production volume of the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to increase from 8.4 million units in the third quarter to 15.8 million units in the fourth quarter, a doubling, and the production volume of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to increase from 6.6 million units in the third quarter to 25.2 million units in the fourth quarter, nearly four times.
Currently, several parts makers are experiencing disruptions in the production of parts for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and there is a prospect in the industry that Apple will first increase production of the iPhone 15 Pro model and then gradually increase the volume of the Pro Max.
