Apple, the company that charges you more to remove features than to add them, is patching their Vision Pro headset with a software update that fixes bugs *so bad* they literally freeze YouTube!
So, Apple just dropped visionOS 2.0.1, a teeny-tiny update to the “revolutionary” visionOS 2 they launched last month. Apparently, three weeks was all it took for them to realize they shipped a product that could barely handle a YouTube video without having a complete meltdown.
This patch, which you can download if you’re one of the lucky few who shelled out thousands for this headset, also fixes some Safari issues. Because apparently, web browsing on a $3,500 device wasn’t working as smoothly as promised either.
This begs the question, folks, what exactly were they doing over there at Apple before they released this thing? Beta testing with hamsters on treadmills? Regardless, if you’re a Vision Pro owner, you might want to hold off on your YouTube marathon until this update is safely installed.
Oh, and this visionOS 2 update also does a few other things, like adding “2D spatial photos” – whatever that means – and it improves something called “Guest Mode,” for when you want to show off your outrageously expensive, bug-ridden headset to your less-fortunate friends.
