Hold Up, a New iPad Mini and a Special iPadOS Just Dropped!
Apple, never one to rest on its laurels, just unveiled a shiny new iPad Mini 7, hitting shelves tomorrow! And because it’s Apple, they couldn’t just use the regular iPadOS, oh no. They cooked up a special version, iPadOS 18.0.1, just for this little guy.
Now, before you get too excited, it’s basically the same stuff as the iPadOS 18.0.1 that came out earlier this month, with a fancy new build number (because who doesn’t love a new number?). But hey, if you’re in Australia or New Zealand and snagged a pre-order, you’ll be the first to get your hands on it during setup.
What’s in this special sauce, you ask? Well, it fixes that pesky bug that made your iPad crash when you tried to show off your Apple Watch face in a message. Plus, they patched up a security hole in the Passwords app, so your digital secrets are safe and sound (hopefully).
Oh, and one more thing: the iPad Mini 7 comes with plain old iOS 18 out of the box. So you’ll need to do that update right away. But don’t worry, next week you’ll be able to jump on the iPadOS 18.1 train and get all those fancy Apple Intelligence features everyone’s talking about.
So there you have it, folks. A new iPad, a new iPadOS, and hopefully, fewer crashes and more security. Stay tuned for more updates, because you know Apple’s not done yet.
