Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s New Romance Film “We Live In Time” Gets Scored by The National’s Bryce Dessner
Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster! “We Live In Time,” the upcoming romance film starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, will feature a score composed by none other than Bryce Dessner from the band The National. This is big news for fans of both actors and The National, whose music often explores the complexities of relationships and the passage of time – themes that seem to align perfectly with the film’s storyline.
The film, directed by John Crowley, tells the story of Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) whose lives are transformed by a chance encounter. Their love story unfolds over a decade and challenges the very limits of time, making Dessner’s emotionally charged musical style a fitting choice.
Dessner joins a growing list of rock musicians who have transitioned into film composing, including Johnny Greenwood (known for “Phantom Thread” and “The Power Of The Dog”) and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (who worked on “The Social Network” and “Challengers”). Dessner himself has composed for films like “The Two Popes”, “Cyrano”, and A24’s “Sing Sing”. His experience composing for both film and orchestras, along with his band’s focus on emotional themes, suggests that the score for “We Live In Time” will be a powerful and moving element of the film.
One track from the score, “Closing,” is already available to listen to. The full album, which includes a track titled “Carousel” (a nod to the film’s poster, perhaps?), will be released on October 17th. “We Live In Time” will premiere in select theaters on October 11th and nationwide on October 18th.
